I think for a newbie, free templates should be sufficient. For experienced bloggers however, it is best to invest in a unique template.

Just make sure your theme is Se0-optimised. The default WP install doesn’t do this well.

@ EmmaB – Thats a great idea! I usually just “create” the look of my designs in photoshop and then code it in Notepad++.

@ Micheal – I know what you mean, Some Free themes look awesome, but they lack originality.. (The Copyblogger theme for example?)

@ gadgets – Stick it to the Man! LoL.

@ Derek – I agree. Good content is great, but a crappy design doesn’t benefit it.

@ Nick Sports Blog – Thanks for the update. I knew Yan was up to something :)

@ Pat – Thats definitely how I learned to code. I looked at the code and what it did and made little tweaks.. Eventually I just started to understand it and it grew from there!
