Internet Enterpreneurs + Michael Dunlop = Income Diary

by Yan Susanto

Michael Dunlop might be no stranger to the readers of TSB. He has been featured here twice, but this time this good friend of mine needs a little publicity for his new blog diary,

Income Diary

The concept behind Income Diary, while not radical, is interesting and one worth exploring.

What can you learn from those who have made it past the “my first blog” stages and into the inner circle of making a living online?

The answer to that question is: a lot.

The Young Entrepreneur that Started it All

Michael Dunlop is an ambitious young man, the brain behind the already popular Retire@21 blog. At only 20 years old, Michael is already making a full time income from his blogs.

In fact, since September 2008, his income from both affiliate sales and direct advertising has grown by a whopping 1263%.

And that makes him close enough to his dream of retiring at 21 – if he were ever to.

The Blog

entrepreneursIncome Diary is a blog that features top bloggers and internet entrepreneurs that are making a living online. The blog features various interviews with well known internet entrepreneurs to inspire those of us just starting out in the business of internet marketing.

Aside from interviews, Income Diary will also provide you with news and resources on the entrepreneurial world at large. Just as with Retire@21, this blog gives its readers fantastic lists of resources such as the top earning websites and blogging resources to get you started.

The premise of his blog is two-fold. One is to share the successes of other internet entrepreneurs and two, to help aspiring bloggers to start a blog to make money online.

On a personal level, I think the overall concept of the blog is an interesting one. Learning from the great internet entrepreneurs of our times has always been a fantastic way to advance.

It only remains to be seen if Michael can continue to find top-level internet entrepreneurs for his diary on a regular basis.

The Design

michael dunlop

The design of the site is very attractive and professional. The cool green color scheme fits in perfectly with the concept of the site. While the theme is simply a customized version of a WooThemes template, the effort put forth into branding is sincerely appreciated.

The content itself feels nicely packaged, with a fantastic usage of relevant images and graphics to draw you into the posts. Titles, charts, and other elements are also used effectively to draw your eye down the page.

Overall, the design itself is a very professional look, but honestly, apart from some typo errors, we have witnessed a great deal of efforts have been put into the design. Perhaps the text could be made more readable with the usage of better line-heights and a darker shade of gray.

Well done, Michael. What Retire@21 is evidently lack of in terms of design elements, I see none of them on Income Diary.

The Content

In all honesty, although the style of presentation is borrowed and built upon the success Retire@21, Michael has indeed raised the bar and done a fantastic job once again of compiling statistics and finding great internet entrepreneurs to interview.

The sheer amount of information combined with his experience to rub shoulders with some of the top bloggers in the industry is what makes the content so valuable and Digg-able.

Income Diary started well by featuring some prominent internet entrepreneurs who “have made it” BIG

  1. John Chow
  2. David Risley
  3. Evan Carmichael

The content doesn’t stop there as Michael also has one of his famous “top 30″ posts with the top 30 earning blogs online, top 30 website sales of all time, just to name a few.

If pictures are worth a thousand words, take a look at “8 Reasons Why the Internet Lifestyle Rocks.” This is an extremely inspirational post that show you what you could achieve if you make it to the magical six figure income.

Final Thought

Income Diary is all about the idea of living the “internet lifestyle” anyone dream of. While the design itself may not be groundbreaking, the concept is innovative enough and well executed to keep visitors interested.

Surely this blog will appeal more to those of us who gain inspiration from “success stories.”

Or if you were new to the game, you’re invited to sign up for his 7 day FREE eCourse where he will show you how he made $65K a year working one to four hours of work each day.

So see you on the other side.

Michael is a young than know his job and do it. We all know what “should” we do, but most of us don’t get in action. “Start now, fix it later!” – One short BIG advice

Started following Michael recently due to Twitter and loving his new site and his eCourse which has booted me into doing the little things that you easily overlook due to inexperience, not getting round to it or just being plain lazy…

Always looking out for his informative content on http://www.incomediary.com and will now be taking the time to read content at http://www.retireat21.com and get involved with the forums :)

I found out about his new blog a week or so ago, he’s got a great free email course that he offers for bloggers. It starts off by explaining how to set up a blog but gets very interesting by the Day 3. Check it out mates.

I wish I could get my blog to earn money like that. Currently the blog isn’t really earning any money. Time to monetize and get readership up.

Hello Yan,

Great post! Will check out incomediary.com for sure. It would be very helpful to hear great gurus sharing with us their stories and their insights. It would be very interesting to know how you friend is making it happen online before he’s 21. Thanks for the info.

Again great job.

Yeah on his forum I read that he is planning to launch such kind of diary, but through your blog I got the clear idea about that.

But however from where he is getting such a great and inner information. Surprised to see that John is making more than Darren and Jeremy is making only $12000

Mr. Susanto,

I’m back and happy to be around. Everything looks great around here! Keep up the solid work Yan.

I was just over at incomediary.com and it was inspirational to say the least. The idea of overseeing your business from anywhere in the world is both lucrative and motivating. The internet offers online entrepreneurs freedom that is unprecedented in business history. Although most will never make it to the 6 figure level, having an online business that makes 4 or 5 figures per year is still a great opportunity; even if it is just a supplement to your main source of income. Content is king!

Wishing you every ounce of success in 2009 Yan.

Micheal’s site looks good. The look and layout of the blog defiantly makes you want to read it. I wonder what percentage of bloggers make generate enough of an income online to quit their day job.
