Let’s get back to the basic today, shall we? Just in case, you were unsure as to whether your blog has been picked up indexed by Google. What’s the point of a blog without an audience, right? Your blog needs traffic, so to speak. If ‘Content is King’ then ‘Traffic is the Queen’. Therefore being indexed in most Search Engines, Google in particular, has always been the primary occupation of a new blogger.
Getting indexed by Google means your blog or pages of your blog will appear on the search results. If it has not been indexed yet, you will see something like this

How do you know if your blog has been indexed?
Go to your browser address bar and type site:www.yourdomain.com and press Enter. This will perform a Google site search for the entire URL. If the results display none, then your blog has not been indexed by Google yet. Piece of cake, isn’t it?
Detailed information about how Google is crawling and indexing your site as well statistics, diagnositcs, and management tools can be found using Google Webmaster Tool. It a must-have tool for any blogmaster.
What if your site is not indexed by Google?
Here’s few things you can do to increase your chance of getting indexed faster.
- Submit your site to Google. Though it’s not always guaranteed.
- Build your backlinks. Those are inbound links that are pointing back to your site. Search Engines value the importance of your site on how many backlinks you have.
- Create a Sitemap and submit it to Google. It basically tells Google to detect and index any pages in your Sitemap that aren’t included in the Google index.
- Use Google Webmaster Tool to do step #3
The rules of the game is that the more pages of your blog are indexed by Google, the greater your chance of being found which translates into more traffic.
