Since I consider the thou shall blog community to be one of the best, helpful and loyal communities in the blogosphere,
it’s appropriate to ask you all the following questions (this is your time to shine!).
There is one question that keeps coming back:
How do you define a successful blogger? So often I get the impression, you are only “successful” if you make money with it.
Let me put the question the other way round
If making money is not my motivation for blogging, does that mean that all the tons of social media advice everywhere are useless for me?
Both questions were asked by Jutta, a reader at Simply Blog. Usually, the blogger writes the post, which could be addressing a specific question in his or her mind or with the intent of answering reader questions.
I’d love to hear your best response to both questions. Here’s your opportunity to teach and inspire us, which you all do already.
So go ahead, tell us… What’s the definition of a successful blogger?

CTB,
Thanks for the input, I rather focus on the community, content and interaction. I find that folks get caught up in the their blog stats, page rank, SEO and so on, important as those things are, for me, I tend to focus on creating quality content and maintain lively interaction. :) Cheers,
-Mig
When I started with SEO – last yers – SEO 1.0 had rulles that where aplied no matter language. What you proclame to be SEO 2.0 (don’t get me wrong, I totally agree with this taxonony, I even like it and I will use it) it was in fact secondary set of rulles for good seo in SEO 1 packeage, if I may say so. Tha change is that the first package (meta, link directoriesadn stuff) dosn’t seem to count now.
Any way, by all means, Google should came out with a more accurate set of rulles for SEO mastres. This is my opinion.
I think a successfull blog is a blog that are able to change peoples life.
Say you have a blog about how to stop smoking, and some are actually starting to stop smoking because of something you wrote, then you are pretty successfull.
This goes for make money online blogs, fitness blogs, how to date girl blogs. When you methods are working, and people starts to relate their results to you and your blog, you are a successfull blogger.
My definition of successful blogger is person who have depth knowledge about his/her niche. You can look at them if there is anything new in such niche and they can tell you and make you understand about the latest things.
Money is not vital because if you are a sharp marketer than you can earn good money even if your blog is not at all vital (there are many example of that … wont say their names)
But yeah if blogger is expert in their niche and also know how to market them as well than this will be complete blogger with a businessman skill as well.

A successful blogger is one who has a clear objective, with specific goals – and who consistently meets and or exceeds those goals. These goals are unique to each individual blog – and can often not be related to how much $$$ the blog brings in. For many it is sharing a message – or providing a resource – being part of the community that understands the magic of sharing and giving back – or paying forward.

I would side with a blogger who is doesn’t need to be an SEO expert but rather was able to build a fostering community around his blog…I call him a “successful blogger” regardless of how much money he makes from his blog. Sounds crazy?

Successful blogger is one who achieved his goal and objectives.
To have loyal followers blogs must be written with passion, for me it is much resourceful and interesting. It will create trust and invite others to agree and disagree with you.
Traffic and community must be your goal if income is not. I think social media can help either way.

A successful blogger is somebody who meets their own goals set for themselves. I’ve done this with 2 of my blogs, but I’ve started to slip a bit lately.
