Those are all great linking strategies. I know they all work well if done right even though forum posting is my least favorite of them.

Hi Yan,
It's been a while since this article has been written, but I found it both informative and short and to the point. I think the most important thing is to maintain current and useful information. Most of the linking should happen organically from there. The other thing is if you are truly a online contributor, you'll automatically comment on blogs, take part in forums etc. thereby creating a links anyway, while basically contributing for others to learn, while you are learning as well. Anyway, I have bookmarked this page as a cheat sheet again. Thanks!

Yan,
This is a great article. I also love using the e-zine article marketing strategy and love the EzineArticles platform. I have built great links to my websites with articles I have submitted, and in many cases I would characterize those articles as mediocre at best! Even if no one were to syndicate the copy, EzineArticle.com has a great amount of Google power so just the backlinks from there can be of benefit.
I also do the forum linking and have found that concentrating on just a few relevant forums can have a positive impact. I do occassionally change the signatures and mix up the links, which can be helpful when testing out new text links.
Thanks again for this info... I am enjoying your site and will be back for more. And yes, I do plan to link to this site! Just need to put together a good quality article within my site that relates to this subject!

This is one of the biggest challenges I have with new SEO clients...especially if the product they are offering isn't popular or easy to write about. I think one of the most important things is to have a linking strategy and stick to it even if it is simple. Links are a proven factor in Googles algorithm so they cannot be ignored. Thnx for the tips!

This is a great list of habits when link building. You do need to be careful with article marketing though. It is important to create significant variations in your articles because Google won't count links from articles that are posted on multiple websites that are the same or too similar in content copy.

Great post Yan.

I've actually started my blog 1 month ago and am doing blog commenting at the moment to build backlinks and maybe drive a bit of traffic to my site. Also i'm trying to network. About forum posting, i'm quite regular on the popular forums. I still need to try out guest posting and article marketing.

But what method brings you most traffic and backlinks?

Thanks

The fish bites the bait! ok,I'll link you back ^_^
But for point3: article marketing, I don't really get it. I mean, I'd never heard of it before.
Guest posting? Can that guest be a visitor or loyal fan or someone who happens to post his ideas for you on your blog? Define 'guest', if you don't mind, Yan.
Hmm, I did invite buddies of mine to post something but they seem reluctant.
So, tell me...can I do guest posting on your blog?
