I agree with most of the points, Lee. As much as I would like to have a magic bullet, the truth is some of the methods of driving traffic to your site are time-consuming, but they work.

Do you really think though that creating your own social network is better than becoming the "hot stuff" on Twitter or Facebook.

If you don't mind, I wanted to suggest more reading on <a href="http://www.yournetbizattractionmarketingcafe.com/yournetbiz-targeted-internet-marketing-information-overload" rel="nofollow">target internet marketing information overload</a> - my recent blog post.

Thanks,
Ana

I’d say the most important points here are consistency and community involvement. The more time you invest in commenting and forum participation, the more you’ll attract a large following of loyal visitors. And a better way for your good content to bring traffic now instead of later is to position it where it can be found. One way to do that is to create relationships with people who are already heavily involved in Social Networking like facebook or twitter. And Keep your post content consistent, posts should somehow relate back to the main topic of your blog. Thanks for this great tips.

Build links intelligently is v important. Seek links from authority sites in your industry. If local search matters to you (more on that coming up), seek links from trusted sites in your geographic area...

I would say, similar to commenting on other blogs, forum participation also is time consuming. I think they both go hand in hand but with forums you get targeted traffic. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have been blogging since last 1 year and i have noticed that people gets attracted quickly towards sentences like "How To blog". Making combination of key phrases like "How To" and using the keyword you want to target like "blog" really forces readers to explore it. Also, link bait is a successful technique to drive immediate traffic on your blog. Also, building social network helps you to build your reputation and members encourages other people to join your network. This way you don't have to find readers for your site.

Hey!
I love these tips, I literally just started my blog a few days ago and already got 120+ visitors after i started posting my site and the general blog topic on my facebook. Friends are a great start, but through google's analytics I noticed that I was getting visitors from 20+ states which made me even more excited and take a break from studying dynamics to look at this blog right now!
lol, I do have a question though, so far I have pretty much written about random happenings in the world i find interesting. I am considering building two halves to my blog. One for technology developments specifically a different type of engine (Stirling Engine) with which i am obsessed. The other half would be fun worldly topics I like to write about as well. Is it better for me to really try to focus on just these two topics then random posts all mixed together? I would imagine by establishing a separate section for my technology chatter, I can get followers who will read that, and followers who would read my other news section... Another question I have that I could prob find out with some more research, but anyway is it better to start out with a CPM or PPC advertising? Right now I have Adsense set up. Obviously im not expecting anything for a while, 60 visitors/day is quite modest : P but when i get to the point where money is possible which is better...? any tips on that? Thanks so much... I liked the retire at 21 thing, im gonna check that blog out as much as possible too! Your a great source for starting out and I appreciate you caring enough to help us 60 visits/day guys out : )

Lee,
I have been blogging for over a year using a premium paid, TypePad platform.
It has done little to nothing for my traffic.
Neither the blog has shown any dramatic hits other than those I specifically create.
And, the website has not profited from the blog one iota.
Yet, I would like to think that I am hitting all five of your suggestions.
Go figure!
Rgds,
Ric
